Join in the fun of READY SET KINDER, as we get our LITTLE ones ready for the BIG adventures of Kindergarten.   

READY SET KINDER is a school readiness program run by a team of highly experienced, primary trained teachers. With a combined total of almost 80 years teaching experience, and many years of Kindergarten experience, READY SET KINDER brings the knowledge, fun and excitement of a Kindergarten classroom, to a well thought out transition program.  

Come and experience an hour long session, focussing on the academic, social and emotional skills needed for those first big steps into school.  

READY SET KINDER is for those who turn 4 before July 31st. 

The Ready Set Kinder program is a carefully designed, high-impact learning experience for children in the year before they start school.

This is not a casual playgroup.

It is not childcare.

It is an intentional, structured, and nurturing program that prepares children for the academic, social, and emotional realities of kindergarten — while still honouring childhood.

At Ready Set Kinder, we focus on the whole child. We explicitly teach the skills children must have for school, while also developing the confidence, resilience, independence, and mindset they need to thrive once they get there.

Every session is thoughtfully planned. Nothing is accidental. Every activity has a purpose.

Our Kinder program directly teaches the skills children are expected to have when they enter school, ensuring they feel capable, confident, and ready from day one.

• Name writing and correct pencil grip 
• Letter recognition and early phonemic awareness 
• Listening, comprehension, and following instructions 
• Story engagement, vocabulary building, and oral language
   

• Number recognition and counting with meaning 
• Understanding quantity, not just reciting numbers 
• Sorting, patterning, shapes, and early problem-solving 
• Foundations of mathematical thinking through real experiences
   

• Correct scissor grip, safety, and cutting skills 
• Hand strength and coordination 
• Tool use and control (pencils, glue, manipulatives) 
• Bilateral coordination and visual-motor integration
   

• Managing belongings 
• Sitting for group learning 
• Transitioning between activities 
• Attempting tasks independently before seeking help

Just as important as the academic skills are the life skills children absorb through our environment, routines, and educator interactions.

Through participation in Ready Set Kinder, children learn to:

• Regulate emotions and cope with disappointment
   
• Ask for help appropriately
   
• Take turns, wait, and share space with others
   
• Listen to peers and adults
   
• Follow expectations and routines

These skills cannot be taught with worksheets — they are built through experience, consistency, and trusted relationships.

School readiness is not just academic. A child who can write their name but cannot cope when things go wrong is not truly ready.
